List about every character in the tribute game

Mikasa Ackerman

Mikasa (front)

Mikasa seen from the front

Mikasa is one of the playable character in the game. She is the first character and the first on the list of playable characters, if the player doesn't choose another character, the player will play as her. She is a fast moving character capable of getting high damage (since she is fast moving). This is because she is light, which makes it easier for her 3D maneuver gear to carry her. Due to some of the other character's specials being useful in a larger number of situations than Mikasa's, she doesn't seem to be used by lots of players.

Special:

Mikasa (ult)

Mikasa special, performed in the air

Mikasa's special, is a direct thrust down with her swords, killing everything it touches. Whenever the player is at full speed in the air or, in a swing/corner, Mikasa stops moving all direction (except downwards), and thrusts her sword and herself down to the ground. It is possible for the player to hit more targets with the special, since she only stops when she hits something. Mikasa special is extremely good against crawlers, since their weak spot is horizontal and not vertical like the other titans. The damage of the special will be high is hit directly and carefully. Using the special must be planned, because sometimes it is the cause of death.

Passive:

Mikasa is faster than other characters, because of her light weight. This makes her run faster, jump a little further, and move faster with her 3D Gear. In a test Mikasa proved to be 20-25% faster than Armin on the ground, which is very useful for escaping titans in case you're out of gas.

Playing as Mikasa

Mikasa (ult hit)

Mikasa's Special are making impact with a titan.

Mikasa is not very often played, this might because she was the first character, and player might try out new characters. Because of her extra movement speed, Mikasa is good. Her special is considered one of the few special that can be used (properly) against a crawler. Mikasa is the only character that can use the "Chop Interrupt" technique.

Levi Ackerman

Levi is a playable character in the game. He has an extremely good acceleration, but has low stats than average stats in everything else. He is still very deadly and his special is very popular with veterans.

Special:

Levi will spin in the air, slicing anything within his blades reach. Also one of his grapples will latch itself onto whatever your cross-hair is pointing at, pulling you towards it (and also detach any currently attached grapples). This pull can be a bit unpredictable, but with some proper planning it's for example possible to launch yourself at a titans neck from the front and use the pull to slingshot yourself at his nape in one motion, killing the titan very quickly. Also this special is much easier to use since in most cases you pull yourself towards your target, meaning you don't need to be 100% accurate when attacking. Sometimes the pull can also launch you in unpredictable directions after the attack, like straight upwards or back where you came from. The special also can use brake a lot of your blades, in a worst case it can almost destroy an entire set of blades in one attack.

Passive:

Playing as Levi Ackerman

Levi is a common character for veteran to play as, because he is quick an efficient, with good gas and blades. He can be used to execute many techniques. He should be used offensively. Also, his special dishes out a lot of damage, and can be used to unhook yourself from unwanted targets.

Marco Bott

Marco is a playable character in the game.

Special:

Marco's special attracts titan's attention. Marco waves his hands wildly above his head, titans then turn and follow him. While Marco's special is virtually useless in single-player, it can be very useful in multi-player.

Passive:

Playing as Marco Bott:

Marco is an excellent team player. However he is not the best choice for single player (as special is useless without a secondary player). Marco is good for pulling aggro, diverting them away from allies, etc.

Marco should be played defensively, as his special is incredibly useful when utilized correctly.

Jean Kristein

Jean is a playable character in the game. Jean has the best gas conservation in the game.

Special :

Jean's special (right click by default) is a vertical chop that frees him from a titan's grasp. His special is extremely useful in single-player mode. However it seems to be only usable once in a given round.

Passive :

Jean's passive is halved gas consumption.

Playing as Jean Kristein

Jean is one of the most ideal players for single player. Jean doesn't lend himself well to team play, but he's still viable thanks to his great gas conservation.

Petra Ral

Petra is a playable character in the game

Special :

Petra performs a somersault, slicing as she goes. Petra's special is helpful when you have difficulty aiming with the basic attack.

Passive :

Playing as Petra Ral

Petra is a great character in the game, as she can do 1,000 damage if done correctly. She is also a good character to also start with, since her special move can help aim better to the nape.

Eren Yeager

Eren is a playable character in the game

Special :

Eren transforms to the Rouge Titan, and can kill every Titan with ease (excluding the Female Titan and Colossal). Three punches will kill a normal Titan and an Aberrant, and one kick will kill small Titans and Crawlers. Despite being a strong special, this special only lasts 15 seconds, and then Eren will come out of the nape of the Titan. Beware, this takes a while, and you will be open for attack, so you should go to a secluded spot so you can go back in the fight. This transformation can only be used once per game.

Passive :

Playing as Eren Yeager

Eren is one of the weak characters in the game, as he has neutral stats for everything, and most characters have better stats than him to begin with, like Mikasa and Levi. He is often used for beginning players, as they think his Titan form is helpful. However, people that use mods can kick people playing as Eren out if they use his Titan form.

Sasha Blouse

Sasha is a playable character in the game

Special :

Sasha eats a potato, and her speed doubles. This is useful if you run out of gas and if you need to dodge a fatal Titan attack. Beware, this has a long recharge, so you should use it wisely.

Passive :

Playing as Sasha

Sasha is a useful character against escaping any titans including the female and punks.

Armin Arlert

Armin Arlert is a playable character in the game

Special :

Armin uses a dance to make the Titans laugh, immobilizing them for a few seconds. This can be useful in both single-player or multi-player, for distracting a Titan, or to escape from one. If enough there are enough Armin in the serve it can be possible to immobilize it forever, only if it is used in right timing, if you use the special again while the titan is laughing their are it doesn't affect the titan, as said it must be right timed in order to immobilize it.

Passive :

Armin has relatively good gas,

Playing as Armin Arlert

Armin is better used as a defensive player. Despite this, most people do not use him, having great gas and a useful special in multiplayer.

Character Customization

Feng Lee (or Feng Li), in the October 2014 update, allowed players to create their own character, with different outfits, looks, and stats. They can choose specials from all the characters, so they can choose to be offensive or defensive. There are 3 slots for characters, and you can create your own character with unique stats, one of the original characters with unique stats, or set characters form the series with unique stats.

List of Set Characters not in Roster:

- Connie Springer

- Mike Zacharius

- Annie Leonhart

- Zoe Hange

- Feng Lee (Feng Li)

As of Version 12302014

- AHSS (Anti-Human Suppression Squad)

AHSS

The AHSS or Anti Human Suppression Squad, can be set as a custom character by choosing the AHSS preset in the character customization. However you cannot change the gender of such characters to female, as this will re-equip the normal 3D maneuver gear with the blades. Other than that the character is still freely customizable.

Differences to normal characters :

The 3D maneuver gear is heavily modified in its general layout, but it still functions the same as the usual version. The blades are replaced with a type of high powered rifle on either side, which is capable of killing humans and shooting the eyes or legs of titans. Contrary to common belief it is technically possible to kill a titan by shooting his nape at close range, however, the circumstances have to be very specific. Also, it can be killed by other human players much the same way it can kill them.

Since blades don't have any effect they can be set to the lowest possible number. And since your ammunition is very short, you will also practically never run out of gas anyway, so you can set that to minimum as well. That enables you to completely go for speed and acceleration.

Controls :

Controls work practically the same as with a normal character, only the weapons are different. The left mouse button fires one gun at a time, while the right mouse button fires both at the same time (if both are loaded). You ran reload with R, even if one rifle is still loaded, or if you try to fire with unloaded rifles, the character will attempt to reload the guns instead.

Both rifles only hold a single shot with 7 reserve rounds per rifle.

Attacking a Titan :

Attacking a Titan is extremely challenging on your own, it is usually better to work as a distraction for a blade-equipped player who can then strike the nape, as getting a successful hit with the rifles there is extremely hard even under ideal circumstances. However shooting at the eyes and legs works practically always.

If you are alone anyway, and you have to strike the nape yourself, you will have extreme difficulty getting a valid hit. There are a couple extra factors to consider:

  • - The rifles damage, even with both fired at the same time, is by default too low to even kill the smallest titans.
  • - The rifles damage increases dramatically when fired in mid flight at high speed
  • - The rifles are only effective at relatively close range (about 20 meters)
  • - The larger the Titan, the more damage (and speed) you need to get a successful hit at it's nape.
  • - It's much more effective to fire both rifles at the same time at a Titans nape
  • - The rifles cause a lot of recoil, that can launch you away from your target in mid-flight.

There are two relatively effective ways to attack Titans.

One is to launch yourself from long range at high speed, making fine adjustments in flight and blasting its nape as you fly by.

The other option is to constantly circle around the Titan, waiting for it to launch an attack (and therefore stop turning towards you) and then got for the nape in a flyby.

Both options have advantages and disadvantages. The long range launch only gives you one try, and its very hard to time your shot correctly. The close range circling method makes it hard to build up sufficient speed to land a good enough hit. Especially very large Titans seem nearly impossible to kill at times.

In the end it all depends a lot on luck.

Trivia

  • The AHSS's rifle was supposed to be based on a long rifle from the Garrison in the anime Attack On Titan instead changed into a short, big and wide barrel pistol-like weapon
